    BCBS Insurance & Heroin Rehab

Heroin addiction has been making a pretty big comeback in the United States since the turn of the century.  Heroin addiction, something that was hardly even heard of in the 1990s, is now a crisis and a virtual epidemic.  The problem goes on and on and worsens and worsens time and time again with little to no sign of it getting any better any time soon.

Heroin addiction began to increase around the turn of the century when prescription drug abuse began to jump upwards to.  Between 2001 and 2005, prescription drug abuse skyrocketed by over three-hundred percent, an increase that blasted up in tandem with a more than three-hundred percent increase in the production, distribution, and proliferation of these drugs into the hands of Americans everywhere.  Prescription drugs became more available, and the abuse of the drugs increased at that point too.

Now, heroin is the second most commonly abused deadly drug in the nation, second only to prescription drugs.  A big problem to say the least.  In 2015, more than two and a half million Americans were addicted to prescription drugs, more than eight-thousand died from their abuses, and more than three-hundred thousand became newly addicted to the drug.  Surely, this substance is gaining popularity year after year with no sign of it going down any time soon.

For some of the data on it, heroin abuse has quite literally skyrocketed in the U.S. in tandem with increases in opiate pain reliever abuse.  To get the numbers on it, the 2007 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) reported that there were approximately 1,153,000 current heroin users in the United States in the year of 2007.  2015 saw that number almost double.  Desperate times call for desperate measures, so the main focus in the United States now with the current heroin epidemic has been with utilizing rehabilitation, rehabilitation, and more rehabilitation to address these dangerous and totally worrisome issues.

Heroin Rehab Covered by BCBS Insurance

The truth of the matter is that the best way to tackle any drug or alcohol addiction problem is with inpatient, residential, drug and alcohol addiction and dependence treatment centers, detox facilities, rehabilitation programs, and recovery organizations.  These programs offer the best services of them all and tend to provide comprehensive and thorough care to those who suffer from a heroin addiction.

Heroin addiction and heroin abuse, in general, is not something to be taken lightly.  This is an issue and this is a problem that just seems to worsen on and on and on with little to no sign of it getting any better any time soon either.  And that is the simple truth of it.  Without a heroin rehab covered by BCBS insurance or any kind of insurance for that matter, an addict will simply continue to abuse the substance on and on infinitely.  It is a never ending problem except when it is confronted with rehabilitation.

This is why rehab centers that are BCBS covered are so key.  In fact, this is why any rehab center of any kind is so key.  A heroin addiction rehabilitation program utilizes an effective and permanent approach to working against the addiction and addressing each and every aspect of it.  In doing so, addiction is brought to bear and a person is able to move forward into a life of freedom and recovery that lasts a lifetime.

    Most Insurance Accepted

Unfortunately, most insurance only covers approximately 30 days of treatment. Some individuals, due to the type and specifics of the addiction or just personal preference, desire to stay in rehab for a longer period. In those cases, they would need to pay for the extra time out-of-pocket.

It is always a good idea to check to see what portion, if any, your insurance will cover for substance abuse treatment. If your policy will not fully cover all the costs, you could ask the program if they allow payment installments; or there is the option of medical necessity loan options.

You want to find a program that your insurance will cover AND is effective. Unfortunately, it is complicated which insurance coverage is accepted at what recovery center for what specific treatment protocols. The easiest way to know if you have coverage is to speak with one of our counselors. Besides being able to tell you more about what type of programs to consider, they will be able to compare your insurance coverage against each center’s acceptance.

Some might suggest, “Any treatment is better than no treatment.” Even though this is well intended, it is not true. Long-term studies show that those who relapse after treatment are far less likely to return to rehab in the future. This only emphasizes the fact that it is important to find a program that has proven to be successful. Do it right the first time.
