Caller: 19-year old man calling on behalf of his younger sister
Problem: Bath salts
Seeking: Rehab treatment options for bath salts, possible interventionist
Reason(s): The brother is concerned that his little sister is having issues with ‘bath salts.’ He said, “I was finding these little baggies all over her room, they were hidden away, but not thrown away in the garbage. All of these baggies had the same thing on them, despite the fact that they all had different names, it said ‘not for human consumption’.” he said that he realized what his sister had been doing. He started learning more about bath salts and realized that these substances can be extremely dangerous and addictive. He said, “The more you read about this stuff, the more it feels like I should be doing something to make sure that she realizes that she is making a horrible decision with her life. I realize that there is nothing I can do right now that would make her change her mind, but I can at least offer her reasons why she should not be using. I also wonder if she knows why she is using. Is she using heavily because she is unhappy? Is she using because she feels she has to do it, to fit in? I really do wonder about that.” The brother wants to find out more information about the drug, about potential rehab options, and about intervention options before he ever tells his parents about his sisters’ situation.
