Caller: Sister for 45 year old brother
Problem: Addicted to meth and homeless
Seeking: Non 12 step rehabs / biophysical drug rehab
Reason(s): Brother has been on the streets in MO for some time and just admitted to a family member that he goes to truck stops to find bottles of urine that truckers throw out of their trucks, and drinks them as this allows him to get meth without having to pay for it (because of drug residue in the urine). The family could not believe this and finally are all coming together to do whatever is needed to get him the right help to save his life and get him off the streets. They have doctors in the family who explained that the disease-based 12 step rehab model is a low success rate treatment method. And how biophysical rehab programs get all the meth residue out of the body tissues so that he can feel normal afterwards. Also how the biophysical treatment programs are non 12 step in nature which provides more one on one counseling and no group therapy to provide the emotional help he is going to need to successfully resolve his meth addiction.
