Caller: Mother for 27 year old daughter
Problem: Long term alcoholism
Seeking: Non 12 step rehab treatment
Reason(s): Daughter has been doing AA for years and did one 30 day inpatient rehab in 2006; but she felt it was just like going to AA meetings. There was no real difference. She feels it only makes her more depressed and wants to drink more. Her sponsor does not agree with her looking elsewhere. She called the hotline to find resources that could help her locate a long term non 12 step alcohol rehab center. They read how these alcohol rehab programs do not believe in group therapy or in the disease concept, and have confidence that this will help her get to the underlying emotional issues. The mother also discovered that non 12 step rehab centers have much higher success rates in treating alcoholism.
