Caller: 37-year old man calling on behalf of female neighbor
Problem: Alcohol addiction
Seeking: Rehab options, preferably non-faith based
Reason(s): Caller wants to know whether treatment for his neighbor is a possibility. Caller states that after the neighbor’s husband passed away from cancer, it seems that she has simply “given up.” Caller says that the female barely leaves the home anymore and when the caller has attempted to go next door to talk to her, she refuses to answer the door, though he can see her sitting in her living room through the window. He says, “I am not going to tell you that we are or have been very close, because we’re not, but when someone is drinking themselves to death right next door, I think the only right thing to do is actually take action.” Caller says that he knows both the neighbor and her husband were not religious, and caller does not believe that a traditional 12-step program is going to be much use to her. He said, “She already refuses to leave the house, why would anyone think that she would leave the house in order to sit and talk about her problems? Especially when she refuses to leave the house altogether and won’t even answer the door?” Provided the caller with two local instances that may be able to help or at least provide some more information on non-religious rehab facilities.
