Caller: 34-year-old wife calling on behalf of 40-year-old husband
Problem: Cocaine addiction
Seeking: Viable treatment options
Reason(s): Caller is asking about possible treatment options for her husband. She says that she thought they had the prototypical American household; family, children, a dog and the house. Caller said her husband had a good full-time job and appeared to be quite content with life. She said that she found out her husband had been using cocaine to escape the pressures of everyday life. “I don’t know when it started, he really does not want to talk about it, but without telling me, he started using cocaine to help him deal with everything in his life. He has never been a big talker, perhaps this was his outlet.” Caller says that while they were previously in stable financial condition, she has only recently found out that her husband is juggling credit card advances in order to pay for his addiction. She said, “We were not upper class by any stretch of the imagination, but we were financially independent, now just looking at the credit card bills he has been hiding for a long time makes me sick to my stomach”. According to the caller, she wants to make sure that her husband gets the treatment that he needs to live a sober life and only then will she decide where their marriage stands. Provided the caller with a few local addresses that may be viable treatment options.
