Caller: 35-year old man regarding his friend
Problem: Heroin addiction
Seeking: Drug rehab program specializing in heroin addiction with possible intervention
Reason(s): The caller is seeking help for his friend with a heroin addiction. According to the caller, the friend has already served time in the county jail for possession of drug paraphernalia twice and is worried that the third-strike is going to come soon. The man suggests that the friend has been locked away for weeks at a time, but it has not made a dent in his friends’ addiction to heroin. The caller stated, “It is honestly as though he was able to get more heroin, once he was in jail, than he did outside of jail. He has managed to dodge a bullet the second time around when he was talking to the judge, but I have no doubt that he will not be so lucky the next time”. According to the caller, forced sobriety would do nothing but hurt his friend, saying, “There is honestly nothing that jail or even prison is going to do for him. I know they may have a hard time seeing it, but the guy just needs help, not punishment, because that will not do anything for him.” He asked what the possibility would be of finding a treatment center that specializes in the heroin recovery process and asked for help in getting his friend interested in attending treatment.
